Dr. Emdad, Dr. Bapna, and Dr. Ghodoosi presented at the first annual conference of UBRI Connect at the University of California, Berkeley.  Two other HBCUs, Southern University in New Orleans and Morehouse College were part of the FinTech Center delegation. The event featured 150 participants showcasing the activities of 30 worldwide universities through lectures, presentations, and chats amongst industry keynotes. We had the opportunity to network with fellow scholars and Ripple engineers to accelerate our research and curriculum development in blockchain, cryptocurrency, and FinTech. In February 2019, Morgan received a multi-year, multi-million dollar grant from Ripple, a Silicon Valley technology company and joined Ripple’s University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI), a select group of institutions in a worldwide effort designed to accelerate academic research, technical development, and innovation in blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, and FinTech security. The Center for the Study of Blockchain and FinTech at the Graves Business School offers programs and activities to support faculty and students at Morgan and at ALL other HBCUs.
